What are the black specks in Formulite shakes?
These black spots are LSA – a specially formulated combination of linseed (flaxseed), sunflower seed, and almonds which is made into a ground meal using an air-cooled slow grinding process (so as not to destroy the grain)
LSA is a great source of essential vitamins and minerals, protein, fibre and, of course, omega 3, 6, and 9 essential fatty acids
How many Formulite meal replacement shakes can I have per day?
The number of Formulite products you have per day will depend on your goal. To use Formulite as a pre-bariatric surgery VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet), replace three meals per day with a meal replacement shake. For an LCD (Low Calorie Diet) replace two meals per day. As a tool to maintain weight loss and optimal health, replace one meal per day.
Are Formulite shakes a VLCD or an LCD?
Formulite meal replacement shakes can be used as both a VLCD/VLED and a LCD. To use it for a VLCD (800 cal/day), replace three meals per day. For an LCD (1200cal/day) replace two meals per day.
How long can I use Formulite shakes for?
If replacing three meals per day as a part of VLCD you can use Formulite for up to 4 weeks. A LCD, replacing two meals per day can be used for up to six months. Using Formulite to replace one meal or less per day can be followed for as long as required or until the age of 65 years, when nutritional needs will change.
What makes Formulite shakes different to other meal replacements?
Formulite provides Balance of protein, low-sugar and high-fibre in one meal replacement. Each 55g shake contains healthy fats, 24 essential vitamins & minerals, prebiotics and probiotics. Prebiotics are a form of dietary fibre that acts as a “fertiliser” for the good bacteria in the gut. Probiotics are live bacteria that can be found in yogurt and other fermented foods. Neither are affected by cold, heat, acid or time. Formulite is naturally sweetened with Stevia.
Are Formulite products gluten free?
Yes. All Formulite shakes and soups are gluten free.
Are Formulite shakes lactose free?
No, the typical amount of Lactose is 2.22grams per 55g serve. Of note is that Formulite shakes are much lower in Lactose than most other VLCDs as they do not contain skim milk powder.
Are Formulite soups lactose free?
Yes. All Formulite soups are lactose free.
Do I need to take a multivitamin while using Formulite products?
No. Formulite products contain all of the vitamins and minerals needed for good health.
Do Formulite products contain fibre?
Yes, each Formulite shake provides 3.7g of dietary fibre and soups between 6.85-10.5g of fibre. Most Australians do not consume enough fibre (on average 20-25g). The Heart Foundation recommends adults consume 25-30g daily.
Do Formulite products contain caffeine?
All of the Formulite Soups and shakes are caffeine free apart from the Coffee flavoured Meal Replacement Shake which contains 66mg of caffeine.
Is Formulite suitable for vegetarians and vegans?
The protein in Formulite meal replacement shakes is derived from milk. There are no other animal products used in the production of Formulite shakes therefore it is suitable for vegetarians who drink cows milk, but not vegans.
Formulite Vegetarian soups are suitable for vegetarians but not vegans as they contain the Vitamin D3 which is derived from either fish oil or sheep lanolin.
Can the shakes be made up with milk instead of water?
Yes, however this will add extra calories, protein and carbohydrate. Making up the shakes with 250ml skim milk will add an extra 90 calories, 375 kJ, 9g protein and 12.5g carbohydrate.
Do I need a prescription to order Formulite?
No. Formulite can be purchased without a prescription however it is important to consult a medical practitioner prior to using Formulite, to ensure it is right for you.
Once I mix up a shake, do I have to drink it straight away?
Formulite shakes will keep for up to 2 hours outside of the fridge and up to 6 hours within the fridge.
Can I use Formulite when pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Formulite products do not meet the increased nutritional requirements of pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Will Formulite interfere with my medications?
Formulite is just like food, however some medications may require you to limit intake of certain vitamins and minerals. It is important to consult a medical practitioner prior to starting Formulite to ensure the product is right for you.
