Lactose Intolerance

Formulite Meal Replacement shakes contain a much lower level of lactose (2.2g/serve) than most of their competitors due to the use of micro filtered whey protein and the absence of milk powders. The amount of lactose tolerated will vary between individuals. A discussion with your healthcare professional about Lactase enzyme products (tablets or drops) is another option to consider. These products are available at most pharmacies and may assist with lactose digestion when taken with a lactose containing food.

Fructose Malabsorption

All Formulite products are fructose free and therefore may be appropriate for individuals with fructose malabsorption.

Lupin Allergy

Lupin, like other protein containing foods (e.g. peanuts, soybean, dairy and shellfish) may trigger an allergic reaction in a small percentage of the population. Some people who are allergic to peanuts may also react to lupin.

Gluten Free

All Formulite products are certified gluten free and suitable for people with Coeliac Disease or gluten intolerance.

Aspartame Free

All Formulite products are free from artificial sweeteners and are instead naturally sweetened using stevia. Stevia is a natural extract of the leaves of the Stevia rebaudiance (Bertoni) plant. Stevia is 200 to 300 times sweeter than regular sugar.

Formulite prefers not to use artificial sweeteners such as aspartame because:

  • Research shows that aspartame worsens insulin sensitivity to a greater degree than sugar
  • Artificial sweeteners promote weight gain by tricking your body into thinking it will receive sugar (calories); when the sugar doesn’t arrive, carb cravings can result
  • Artificial sweeteners likely also cause weight gain by disrupting your intestinal microflora, thereby raising your risk of both obesity and diabetes

FODMAP Diet

Formulite products maybe not be suitable for those on a low FODMAP diet, as each product contains at least one high FODMAP ingredient. Please discuss the suitability of the product with your health care professional.
